  • Review/Approval of October Minutes

Megan Olson motioned to approve minutes from October, Kathy Smith 2nd. All in favor

  • Brookie’s Market

Was Art-A-Palooza but it needed a name change because no art.

Really pushed this year for class baskets to be business donations. Hoping this allows us to ask for less money from parents            ahead of the auction!

We will still do activity tables during conferences, teacher experiences will be sold at 4:00 pm on the dot.

          Baskets due Feb. 17th

Silent auction, same website. All pre-approved.

Fundraiser goal is $20 k, raised from the $17k.

  • TSPP/Landtrust Goals and Plan

BLT met and looked at the current gaols, no changes were proposed.

Proficiency and growth goals *see October minutes (goals reviewed in meeting).

Looking to see the Acadience benchmark metrics next month.

BLT team will meet after metrics come in and determine if changes need to be made. We will review proposals on 2/21 in                   SCC. Recommendations / changes can be adopted in BLT, then signoff by SCC will be on 3/25.

  • SCC financial update

District said a 2nd cell tower would net $0 increase. Principal Barrett went to the district and demanded we recieve some                    compensation. They agreed to add $5-$6k per year additional.

1st tower compensation of $1,062 per month, but that amount is decreasing to $937 per month (due to revenue sharing to                  other schools).

Fundraising – no changes to current projections.

Landtrust – we found excess funds. Need to find ways to spend it. Excess funds due to unpaid time off. The surplus can be                  spent on technology and academic software to help students reach reading/math goals.

Heidi gave an update on Newsela. Aligned with the reading curriculum, additional sources for writing. Evaluating the option of           spending on Newsela. Although it would be site-wide license ( all grades) Principal Barrett said we would only be using it for               upper grades (5th grades). deal is to help these students meet their growth goal. Younger grades are still developing, Upper               grades still finishing Lexia and would use it for reading to learn.

Evaluating purchasing Ipads for progress monitoring purposes.

  • Input from PTA representatives

PTA event focused on enhanced reading “literacy month” in March. Wanting to encourage parents to get kids reading at                      home. E.g. Mrs. Lunds summer reading program (reading in a bathtub with stuffies). Little teacher efforts, but reminders. End            the week with an Assembly, bring in an author to remind them how exciting reading is. Will be approved in Feb. PTA meeting.
