- 2026-2027 School Staffing/FTE Plans: Corrie Barrett
- Two classes per grade level
- Mr. Hunter will move back to 4th grade
- Corrie really advocated for keeping two teachers in each grade level so we don’t have to split grade level class
- Jessica Pohlman: Havee all. boundary changes been tabled?
- Yes, for a year. It’s proposed that some elementary schools will merge in two years to fix the declining enrollment issue.
- Brookwood will get a new principal next year. There was someone assigned but they resigned from the district. The new principal will hopefully be announced at the board meeting.
- Four Staff/Teachers are leaving, several new employees will join as part of the ABS Unit that is moving to Brookwood.
- The ABS Unit will be in the current 2nd grade wing. second grade will move next to 3rd grade.
- Brookwood will also have a part time behavioral specialist supporting the ABS classrooms.
- School Safety Report: Corrie Barrett
- The parking lot lighting was bad. They had to reset the timers for daylight savings and that solved that issue.
- SCC Financial update: Corrie Barrett
- Fundraiser: We will finish with around $2000.00
- Landtrust: We’ll finish with under 10% carryover which is required
- TSSA: We will end with about $1000 carryover, which is good. We have to spend it.
- Cell Tower: We’ll finish with about $20,000 carry over.
- SCC 2026-2027 Election Info: Corrie Barrett
- Ashley Moehle will be moving so, Kimball High will take her spot for the alternate for her remaining year term.
- As of now, we only have 5 applicants so we will not have an election unless more people apply before 2:00 pm today.
- Employee Members: Abby Wilcox, Dominic Hunter, Monica Rotermund, and the new Principal.
- Caroline Butters will still attend as a BLT Member.
- Why RISE?: Corrie Barrett
- It’s a state required assesment. Parents can Opt out.
- School funding is not tied to RISE testing at Brookwood. It is tied at underperforming schools to give additional funding for interventions. Other schools receiving funding does not take funding or FTE from Brookwood.
- 5 students opted out
- Chrislyn Woolston: Do teachers feel like RISE results are helpful in understanding how students are doing?
- Corrie Barrett: It takes place at the end of the year, so it helps teachers see where they may need to improve their instruction or increase rigor in very specific areas.
- Ann Odom: Do teachers recieve RISE data for incoming classes to see where students may need support?
- Yes
- Liz Palmere: Is there a way to combine tests to receive the same results?
- No. RISE is the year-end summative test for elementary school.
- When are the other tests?
- Benchmark testing (Acadience) at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.
- Acadience is a more surface level test that is like a snapshot.
- RISE is much more in depth and gets a better, deeper picture that’s broken down by concept.
- Liz: If a student doesn’t take the RISE test, then next years teachers won’t have that data to know where that specific student’s weaknesses are?
- Yes. You would have the other students data, but wouldn’t know their specific info until you got to know them.
- Liz: Do teachers feel like Acadience could be eliminated for the grades that take RISE?
- Abby Wilcox: No. They asses different things.
- Chrislyn Woolston: Has this information been sent out to all the parents at Brookwood?
- No, but you can find it online
- Jessica Pohlman: I think it could help to send it out to parents. It seems like it is popular to opt out at Albion and Brighton right now. So it would be helpful for parents to understand what RISE is for.
- Katie Dunn: It may be helpful to make a FAQ with the top 5 questions about funding and why RISE is helpful for teachers and students.
- Liz Palmer: I think it would help for parents to know that RISE info helps inform teachers about their incoming students so they can know about their incoming students so they can know where instruction is needed to support them.
- SCC Meeting dates review
- PTA Update: Ashley Moehle
- Prepping for the dance festival and the 50th celebration
- PTA will likely ask for funds for the 50th anniversary celebration
- Corrie Barrett: There will be a new event this year. A senior parade for the former Brookwood Bears.
- Megan Olson: There are 2 elementary schools in the Brighton Feeder that do this so we are trying it. Seniors will come in their cap and gown and take pictures out front and parade through the school.
- Corrie Barrett: It’s unusual for a principal to stay for 11 years at one school and it’s been so special to be in this community for so long. Big thanks to Megan Olson for helping so much and being my right hand supporter.
