  • Review School Data
      • Reading fluency is the biggest concern
        • Parents need to encourage reading at home
        • Discussed incentives to encourage growth
          • Accountability for parents signing off on reading
          • PTA reading activity
            • Maybe make a cover sheet with ideas to help parents
            • Increase incentives for March reading activity-each class can earn a reward
            • must include oral reading
            • introduce the idea at conferences in February
          • SCC could sponsor reading incentives
          • Add oral reading at home and school to Brookwood action plan goals
        • Teaches concerned about significant absences affecting reading
        • Discussed reading+ as a supplement for next year
      • Discussed math data
        • 2nd grades numbers are low, hoping for 3 full time teachers next year
        • A teacher recommended advocating to legislature for a cap on classes at 20 students
        • Kimball asked about workbooks coming home uncompleted
            1. Teachers clarified that often work is done on a seperate paper or as a class on the board
            2. Walk to math program is working well
      • Discussed school climate
        • Absences are huge problem-primarily vacations
        • Megan will check to clarify how checking out/in is recorded and how it affects attendance data
        • Michelle Brunson works with families with chronic absenses/tardiness
        • How can we raise awareness and use SCC funds to address these issues?
        • Can we remind parents that the school calendar is posted years in advance and to plan vacations around days off?
      • Megan updated on baskets for Brookie’s Market
        • Several class baskets had donations from businesses
