  • Draft TSSP/Landtrust goals and plan 2026-27: Corrie Barrett
    • BLT made a note to not base next year goals on midyear Data
    • Goals are based on a grade, not a cohort- goals are based on what growth teachers are able to accomplish regardless of what students are in the grade
    • Why is EOY Goal decreasing? Shouldn’t goals increase? We were at 86% last year. Jessica Pohlman
      • Abby Wilcox: BLT decided that 85% is an achievable goal so they decided to leave it the same.
        • Jessica Pohlman: Why are the goals the same year over year?
        • Heidi Vincent: BLT wants to leave goals a bit broad.
        • Monica Rotermund: Each week BLT looks at reading and math data to see where instruction needs to improve. We are currently enrolling for fall kindergarten. Please help us get the word out.
        • Jessica: We want teachers to know that we are trying to understand the goals, not challenging the teachers. Baggie Books would be worth the extra money. I can tell a difference in my kids who had them and who didn’t.
          • Heidi Vincent: What wording will give us enough flexibility in the goals to accomplish what we need. Dropped a few monetary goals based on budget and expected enrollment.
        • Jessica: How do interventionists get trained?
          • Heidi: They do a training with me each month.
        •  Liz Palmer: Is reading Plus included for next year?
          • We do not have the funds to cover the cost.
        • Whoops! SCC members recieved last year’s action plan and goals. Most of the previous bullet points are now irrelevant. Heidi apoligized for sending out the wrong information. Corrie pulled up the 26.27 goals and action plan for review.
        • Ann: Is Reading Plus getting cut because the budget is getting cut?
          • Yes. Our enrollment is declining so funding is 16% less.
          • Permit deadline is February if anyone wants to attend that’s not in the boundaries.
        • Jessica: Is Lexia a state program?
          • It is approved by the state but not eveyone uses it.
        • Katie Dunn: Is the funding going away?
          • No, but Canyons District is discussing the possibility of limiting Lexia use to 1st/2nd grades only.  People are concerned about screen usage.
    • New Math Curriculum next year.
      • The district will not be supporting ST Math anymore- The new math curriculum (Amplify) has a different math program.
        • Caroline Butters: Amplify uses a lot of manipulatives for problem solving. It is going to be a learning curve, but the curriculum was the best that I reviewed on the committee.
        • Megan Olson: Teachers will start training in April.
    • Climate
      • Positive reinforcement goal: the 4:1 ratio has been imbedded in teacher culture
    • Corrie Barrett: Is there anything from our proposed goals and action plans that the BLT would like to discuss further?
      • Katie Dunn: Next year can you send it to us in a word document instead of Canva so it’s easier to read? Yes.
      • We will take an official vote on the 26.27 TSSP and Land Trust Plans in our February 20th meeting.
  • SCC Financial Update: Corrie Barrett:
    • Fundraising: current balance is around $3,000
    • TSSP: on track
    • Landtrust: on track
    • Cell Tower: about $22,000 remaining
  • Input from PTA Representative: Ashley Theodore
    • 50th Year Celebration next year. If anyone has ideas or wants to be on the committee, let me know
    • Book Blitz interest is down. Should the program continue or would a book club be better?
      • More grades could be included with a book club.
  • Community Input:
    • Jessica: Are we going to lose a teacher due to enrollment?
      • Yes, according to our projected enrollment.
      • Mr. Hunter will be moving to 4th grade next year. Each grade will only have two teachers. Ms. Hambly won’t be returning.
    • Ashley: Which grades have done baggie books in the past?
      • K-2, but 1st and 2nd grade were opt in
        • 1st grade just sent a survey and there were 17 parents who weren’t interested, but they are sending books home with parents that were interested.
        • Jessica: Baggie Books make it easier for parents to follow through for those that will do it.
        • Abby: if you read a page and make less than 5 mistakes, that book is on a good level for you.
    • Ashley: Do you see parent involvement the same over the years?
      • Kassandra Hokanson: It varies based on the class.
      • Caroline Butters: It depends on the group, but since covid it seems to have gone down.
  • Motion to adjourn: Megan Olson
    • 2nd Abby Wilcox
