School LAND Trust / TSSP 2019-20 Year End Summary - Brookwood Elementary
The School Community Council is a dedicated group that meets regularly throughout the school year to review assessment data, develop school improvement plans, establish safe walking routes, and consider other school and community needs as they arise. The Council is comprised of parents and teachers who are elected to their position and serve two-year terms. The principal also serves on the council.
The 2019-20 academic reading goals for Brookwood was to see 90% of students meet or exceed proficiency, as measured by the Acadience assessment in grades 1-3; and 80% in grades 4-5 as measured by the Reading Inventory assessment. The academic math goal for Brookwood was to see 85% of students meet or exceed proficiency as measured by the Acadience assessment in spring of 2020. Assessments were administered in the fall, winter, and spring. To help achieve our goals, School LAND Trust monies were utilized to hire instructional aides who were trained to provide targeted reading/math intervention services.
All students achieving below benchmark scores on the fall 2019 Acadience Reading Composite and Acadience Math Composite were identified for targeted intervention. The reading interventionists ($48,171) pushed-in to each classroom for 60 minutes per day, four days per week. Students were placed in skill-based groups and received explicit instruction using Great Leaps and 95% Group as well as the SBI Manual. Students identified for math intervention received services ($9,115) outside of the classroom in a 1:1 or small group setting.
Due to the schools soft closure in March of 2020, we were unable to collect spring assessment data.
